About the Site
The SASC site is conveniently located on the Swarthmore Rutledge School (SRS) grounds and within walking distance to the Swarthmore Septa train station and TCDN’s administrative offices and Preschool site. The programs have access to excellent community resources including the Scott Arboretum, Swarthmore College, and Swarthmore Town Center.
Our indoor facility is spacious with various workspaces available for coordinated or quiet activities. Children attending programs at the SASC site get daily opportunities for outdoor play on SRS’ recently renovated playground and spacious athletic fields.
This site hosts the following TCDN programs:
- Before School Club
- AM and PM Explorers (kindergarten complement program)
- Swarthmore After School Club
- Summer Club
"I like that SASC provides an opportunity for kids to have free play with each other with understood and consistent boundaries. The teachers all have good judgement and are caring." SASC Parent
About the SASC Program
TCDN’s SASC program provides after school care to children in kindergarten through 3rd grade who attend The Kids Place (TKP) or Swarthmore Rutledge School (SRS). Children may also enroll from outside the Wallingford Swarthmore School District. The site is staffed with four to five teachers, maintaining a 1:12 staff to child ratio.
"Some of the things I really love about SASC are the variety of activities they provide for kids. There's always an active play option and a table project option, and I love that they take the kids outside as much as possible. They're also deliberate in promoting good habits of mind and citizenship by offering brainteaser-type games and activities and by emphasizing how important it is to reduce, reuse, recycle whenever possible. I feel like the program reinforces a lot of what we try to encourage at home in terms of good habits and community values." - SASC Parent
Our Commitment to Quality
The SASC site is proud to be accredited by the National Afterschool Association (NAA). TCDN also participates in PA Keystone STARS, a system of continuous quality improvement, and this site has earned a Keystone STAR 4A rating.
"The teachers are the best. I am really, really happy with how they handle the students, activities and parents." - TCDN Parent
