Why Choose the TCDN Summer Club?
The Summer Club provides a full day summer camp program in Delaware County for working families, where children are guided by caring, experienced, and skilled teachers to experience the joy of summer! The varied choices include something for everyone and balance a child’s day with opportunities to play, swim, create and opportunities to explore, discover, and learn something new.
"This is my daughter's favorite summer program! She asks to go every year." - Summer Club Parent
About the Program
TCDN Summer Club is a safe and caring environment where children have summer days bursting with activity! For 26 years, The Summer Club has balanced the freedom of choice and play with a variety of enriching thematic activities, guests, and field trips. Located on the grounds of the Swarthmore Rutledge School, our location is ideal to access playground, fields, the Swim Club, Swarthmore College, the business community and bus/train transportation.
Summer Club runs for 10 weeks and 3 days, beginning June 20th and ending August 31st. Our day begins at 7:15 AM and ends at either 3:00 PM or 6:00 PM. An additional part time enrollment option for children enrolled in school district sponsored programs (Camp Read-a-lot, Summer Panthers) is available. Families may enroll children by the week.
TCDN teachers are a highlight of the Summer Club. Experienced, talented, enthusiastic and caring teachers give children a fun summer that balances adventure, play and enrichment, and makes them want to come back.
Curriculum
The Summer Club curriculum is programmed in 2-week long thematic segments, allowing for a fulfilling and varied exploration into a fun topic. Choices for children include activities centered on the thematic topics, swimming at the Swarthmore Swim Club (lessons may be arranged), outside games and athletics, art, crafts, science & nature activities, dramatic play & theater, woodworking, and opportunity to play and build friendships. Each segment includes field trips to museums, theaters, and other local venues, which take campers into the community. The grounds of Swarthmore College are used to incorporate activities in the woods and with the horticultural center. Several artists and visitors bring enrichment to Summer Club. Segments include culminating events or presentations that excite children and are shared with families.
Healthy morning and afternoon snacks are provided and children bring lunch from home.
"All my kids have loved this program, it seems to work as well for them as for me." - Summer Club Parent
