A Cooperative Model
An atmosphere of cooperation is at the heart not just of TCDN’s name, but of its conception and operation.
Although families do not regularly take on the role of teacher within individual programs, their presence is felt in a myriad of other ways.
Families are encouraged to play an active role in their child’s day by communicating with teachers, attending conference opportunities, participating in curriculum-related activities, and sharing talents and skills within the classrooms. Additional ways of contributing to a cooperative atmosphere are donating materials, participating in the Preschool Family Work Day, attending social events and fundraising events, and joining/attending Committees, Task Force groups or the Board.
One tangible way in which TCDN is a cooperative is that its Board is primarily composed of present or former family members. TCDN Board and staff look to you for support and active participation in providing feedback about your child’s program in an effort to maintain continuous quality improvement.
These are your programs and the cooperative nature of TCDN is manifest in the spirit that guides the interchange between those of involved with the organization, a spirit of willingness, openness and caring. We are committed to the needs of families and to an attitude that enables you to feel that you have an appreciation for and an active role in your child’s day.
We want you to be satisfied with all aspects of our program, and encourage you to participate when able and provide us with feedback at any time.
As a cooperative organization, we ask that families contribute in some way to our long-standing tradition of a cooperative, whether it be through goods or services, or donations that help us to keep costs down and tuition as low as possible as we maintain safe, nurturing and enriching programs for our children. This choice for all families can be made annually and indicated on TCDN’s Cooperative Contribution Form.
